Situated amongst the wondrous mountains of Tungnath in the Rudraprayag District, Tungnath Temple is the highest Shiva temple in the world nestled at an altitude of 3680 meters. It is one of the Panch Kedars and is believed to have belonged to an ancient era almost 1000 years old. The foundation of this temple was laid down by Arjuna who was the third of the Pandava brothers. It was built in the North Indian style of architecture and has a dozen shrines of other Gods surrounding the temple. There are numerous tales associated with the place including the one where Lord Ram carried out meditation to get himself released from the curse of Brahmahatya for killing Ravana.
The Deoria Taal is located on the Ukhimath-Gopeshwar road, and is reached by a 2 km trek through Sari Village. Visiting the Deoria Taal is a wholesome experience in itself, passing the village and collecting snippets of its daily life through your camera, and if possible, then conversing with the village inhabitants.
Tungnath, a quaint village in Uttarakhand, is known as the starting point of the popular Chopta Chadrashila Trek. At a height of 2680m, this village is surrounded by evergreen forests of pine, deodar and rhododendron. This is one of the easier treks in the Himalayan region and hence, recommended for first timers. The trek covers a large region, starting from Haridwar and ending at Chandrashila.
The Kanchula Korak Deer Musk Sanctuary houses the famous Musk Deer and more importantly, and abundance of lush green vegetation, a lot of varieties of which are claimed by locals to have not even been scientifically classified yet. Sprawled over an area of 5 sq. km, you can spend a larger bit of your day here, lazing around with a pair of binoculars to explore the place.

Chandrashila that literally suggests the ‘Moon Rock’ is the summit of the Chandranath Parvat on which the Tungnath temple of Panch Kedar is situated. The majestic Chandrashila summit serves as a vantage point that offers a heavenly panorama of the Great Himalayas.
Devariya Nag Temple or Omkar Ratneshwar Mahadev is a temple dedicated to Nag Devta which is located enroute to Deoria Tal from Saari village. The temple is dedicated to Nag Devta and can be reached by trekking 1 km uphill from Saari village towards Devariya Tal. The temple architecture resembles the other famous temples in Uttarakhand such as Kedarnath and Tungnath in terms of mandap and garbhgriha. Inside the sanctum sanctorum, there is a lingam with a copper coiled around it which resembles a Naag (snake).
Located at an elevation of 2000 mts, Sari Village is a scenic hamlet at a distance of about 20 kms before Chopta hill station. The village is enclosed by oak and rhododendron trees and resides calmly in the lap of the Himalayas. Sari village or Saari Gaon is the base camp for a very beautiful lake Deorial Tal which is only 2.5 kilometers away from here. Many times when all the hotels in Chopta are closed due to snowfall, then you can get hotels and homestays in Sari Region for your stay. You can easily find few lodges or homestays in Sari.
Kalimath is a religious place located on the banks of Saraswati river in Rudraprayag district. Located at a height of 1800 mtr, Kalimath is one of the 108 Shakti Peeths in India. Kalimath lies on lap of nature offering salubrious and divine environment. Goddess Kali Temple is located in Kalimath.
Cocooned in the fascinated land of Chopta, Dugalbitta or Duggalbitta is a small hamlet which is an halt for travelers coming to Chopta or visiting Char Dham.
